Alabama Star Owen Pens Memoirs

ALABAMA star RANDY OWEN is planning a busy end to 2008 - his first solo album and autobiography will be released on the same day.

The singer is writing his memoirs, Born Country, with Los Angeles-based author Allen Rucker.

It will arrive in bookstores as Owen's new album, One on One, bits music shelves.

The book will chronicle Owen's life as the son of sharecroppers in northern Alabama and his involvement in the formation of Wild Country, the band that was later renamed Alabama.

He says, "This book was really something important for me to do for my family. We touched on every segment of my life."

It is not known if Owen will address any of the extra-marital affair rumours that have rocked the country legend and his bandmates over the years, but he admits, "There were definitely painful parts that were hard to relive."
