With a Micmac mother and a Scottish male parent, Willie Dunn has embraced the musical traditions of both cultures. Initially elysian by the burgeoning American folks music scene of the late-1950s, he's more and more sour his focus to the people of Canada's First Nation, composing and telling songs well-nigh their lives and history as a citizenry. A recent melodic phrase encouraged First Nation youngsters to remain in school.
Dunn has skilfully balanced music and motion-picture show. His picture for his melodic phrase, "Lay of Crawfoot", based on the sprightliness of Blackfoot top dog, Crowfoot (1830-1890), in 1991, was the first base music video recording produced in Canada. Subsequent productions have include an enviromental objective, The Eagle Project, and a objective on the First Nations languages, The Voice Of The Land.
Recording since the early-1970s, Dunn donated the return of his second album to First Nations system, White Roots Of Peace, publisher of First Nations diary, Akwesasne Notes. His 1999 album, Metallic, featured songs that had been written more than deuce decades in front.
Dunn's song, "Son Of The Sun", was covered by First Nations band, Kashtin.
